With the popularity that Apple’s iPhone line is enjoying today, some people who are not familiar with its history are asking the question: when was the first iPhone released? The first iPhone was released in the United States on June 29, 2007 with AT&T as the carrier. Before this, it was introduced by Steve Jobs at the Macworld Conference & Expo on January 9, 2007. The conference was held in Moscone West, San Francisco, California. Its release date on different countries varies.
History of iPhone
Steve Jobs wanted to bring the functionalities of a mobile phone and iPod together with more features to be on top of the competition. Apple first teamed up with Motorola to release their first smartphone. However, they were not pleased with the result. They then teamed up with AT&T, which was then known as Cingular, to release a new and better smartphone. Millions of dollars were spent on this top secret project. And in January 9, 2007, people have seen the first ever iPhone made by Apple at the Macworld Conference & Expo. On its first release in June of 2007, Apple and AT&T stores were out of stock within the first hour that it was made available to customers.
In Europe it was first launched on November 9, 2007 in Germany and UK. In Southeast Asia, iPhone 3G was released in Singapore and Philippines in August 2008. iPhone 3G was the first iPhone that was released in New Zealand and Canada on July 11, 2008.
